A site supervisor oversees daily operations, managing workers and coordinating contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget, by enforcing safety protocols, monitoring progress, and maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders. Key responsibilities include leading and motivating the site team, inspecting work for quality and compliance with plans, managing resources like materials and equipment, and keeping detailed project records.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols:
Ensure all workers follow site safety rules and best practices, conduct regular safety inspections, and have the authority to stop unsafe work.
Identify and address potential hazards, monitor emergency equipment, and handle accidents appropriately.
- Ensure regulatory compliance:
Verify that all construction activities comply with building codes and other relevant regulations.
Project Management & Coordination
- Oversee daily operations:
Manage the day-to-day activities on the construction site, ensuring work progresses according to plan.
Supervise and guide on-site workers, assigning tasks and resolving conflicts.
- Manage contractors and resources:
Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring they adhere to project plans and managing the supply and inventory of materials and equipment.
- Monitor progress and quality:
Conduct regular site inspections to assess the progress of work and ensure quality standards are met.
Communication & Reporting
- Communicate with stakeholders:
Serve as a key point of contact, providing progress reports to construction managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Keep accurate records of project activities, including daily reports, material deliveries, and worker attendance.
Review construction drawings and blueprints to ensure work is executed according to specifications.
Leadership & Staff Management
- Motivate staff: Provide positive direction and guidance to the team to motivate high-quality performance.
- Evaluate performance: Supervise and evaluate the performance of on-site workers and contractors.
- Onboard and train: Train new hires and conduct safety orientations for workers.
